The weight which is not Sin

“…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…” (Hebrews 12)

In the current legislation, there are drugs that are legal, but are harmful to the health, family and society.
We understand that: not everything that is allowed is healthy!
In the spiritual life, is the same: weight and sin are two different things. Weight is what is legitimate in itself, but is harmful to the spiritual health.

Olympic races, there is no rule that forbids the athlete to carry food during the race. But the runner could never win the race in that way. In this case, taking the food is something legitimate, but in the case of an athlete, is an unnecessary weight.
.  For Abraham, take his nephew Lot was not a sin, but a weight!
.  For Moses, the lack of fear of his sister Miriam was a weight that cost seven days' delay in the desert.
.  For Joshua, the breaking of the vow of Achan was a weight that cost him the defeat before the men of Ai.
.  For Martha, the concern about what was secondary, deprived her from the best part: being at Jesus’ Feet!

Since no one runs to lose, remove from your life everything that embarrasses you, even if it is a simple weight!

  1. i understood that there are certain things that might in our lives that can cause set backs in our spiritual life regardless we may considered that it is not a sin but on the other hand it is not a sin but it is affecting our spiritual life in some way.

  2. I agree with this message because as for me, many of my friends that i had that are not in the faith but living for the world, talking to them was not a sin but, there was no agreement with us. The things they spoke about, the places they go, the music, the lifestyle etc. I knew that for me to grow spiritually i had to let go of the dead weight. They don't understand but i know what i want and keeping their company is a setback for me and i will be the one to lose.
