The Angel and the Altar

The devil uses your emotions to stop you from reaching your goals. There are times when you know you are capable of doing what you never expected to do but you allow the evil voices and your emotions to hold you back. You can defeat any evil stronghold by choosing to sacrifice your own will and allow God to lead you to the life He has chosen for you.
When you sacrifice your own will, your desires and choosing to let go what is most precious to you, there is a struggle between you and God and eventually, there is nothing to lose because greater is He who will transform you into a new person and give you a new name.
Jacob did what was wrong through out his life but when he chose to fight, God gave him a new name, a new identity. The angel at first refused to bless him, they fought all night. Finally, Jacob got what he wanted: the Angel gave him the blessing that would accompany him the rest of his life and that would be passed on to all generations after him. The angel gave him a new name: Israel, “the one who wrestled with God.” The next day, after so many years, Jacob reencountered with his brother Esau, who had already forgiven him.
Have you have struggled to get a new identity, as Jacob did? If not, what are you waiting for? The Angel will be at the Altar this Sunday, July 14th. What will you do? Will you give up and allow Him to go up without blessing you or will you fight with Him like Jacob did?
When you go up the Altar and cross to the other side…you can be sure that the perfect sacrifice will bring to existence what you have been longing for…  a NEW LIFE!
