Among the Jews in Jesus’ time, there was a
belief that when a person dies, the soul leaves the body only after the
third day. So then after the fourth day, according to their belief, only the Messiah could raise the dead.
Interesting to note that purposely, the Lord Jesus took four days to go
to Lazarus. And for that reason, He received a slight criticism from
the dead’ sister:
"If You were here, my brother had not died" (John 11).
In Martha’s view, God has been delayed.
This has been the thinking of many people regarding the act of God,
when the request does not happen within the time they want, they think
God is late!
Many people confuse a person who is anxious from the persevering one - both look likes the same!
The persevering one, does his part and trusts that God will also do His part.
The anxious one, however does his part also wants to do God's part!
The advice of the Lord Jesus to Martha, also applies for us today:
"If you believe you will see the Glory of God."
The arrival of the Lord Jesus on the fourth day, had a purpose:
To prove that He was the Messiah, and for Him, four days or four
thousand years no matter whoever believes on Him, even though he dies,
will live!

ReplyDeleteWhen a person is anxious how can they see God power manifest in their life. That is the thing we human being don't know how to wait, we go ahead and do things by our own strength. We want God to work in our time,we want to bring God down to our level it doesn't work like that, if we truly believe in God then we shall stand still and watch the salvation of God, that's what moses said to the people of Israel, when they saw the egyptian coming after them, they become afraid, they start to complain, to murmur, they started to curse moses saying you brought us out here to die, even though they saw all the miracles. Why people behave like this is because they haven't had an encounter with God, just like Jacob only when he had an encounter with God that when is life change completely.
